Left My Heart At Chicano Park - Unisex Garment-Dyed Heavyweight T-Shirt

Some places stay with you long after you leave... This piece was created as a love letter to Chicano Park and to the feeling of not being there for Chicano Park Day 2026, while still carrying it in spirit.

Living all the way in Chicago means returning to the West Coast is not always financially viable, and I felt that distance very deeply this year. Creating this design became a way of praying through design, a way to hold close a place and community that live in my heart. Much of my design work is exactly that, prayer expressed through visual art.

I chose a chrome silver and gold finish because this piece is about reflection. Reflection on my time there, the beauty of our community, and the traditions that continue to carry us forward. When I reflect on Chicano Park, I see myself in the faces of the community, and that feeling of being seen is what makes me feel like I belong.

Inspired by meaningful time spent in Ceremony and the pull of community and memory, this design holds a sense of longing, remembrance, and connection. As a proud Chicana and Danzante, being among fellow comunidad honoring culture and carrying forward the ways of those who came before us is something that lives far beyond a single day.

That spirit stays with me, and for now, my heart is still there in Chicano Park. More than a t-shirt, it is an homage to place, to community, and to the feeling of always finding your way back.
